This is after 3 or 4 coats of blood. It now has a smooth, even colour, which is what we're aiming for. The blood is very glossy at the moment, so taking photos that didn't shine was quite difficult. At this point, stop reopening the cut(I actually recommend stopping a layer before finishing, after practicing you'll learn to know when you've got enough blood, and how much more is going to come out without reopening). Again, practice makes perfect. This entire piece took me a little more than 20 minutes, at first you will be slower but after practicing for a while you will be faster at doing it.

Notice the colour, very rich, very bright. Once the blood dries(takes longer than acrylic paint so wait a few hours or whatever) it will go darker. After a few days the blood "matures" until is a dark brown. I usually apply sealant to my pieces, to stop them rotting (this is blood remember!) and stop people getting sick from being near/touching the pieces. The pieces that I just do at home I don't bother with, if I was to start selling them then I would HAVE TO put on sealant, again it's a safety thing.

Would it even be legal to sell something with human blood on it? Sealed or not, wouldn't it be considered a biohazard? I'm no expert on the subject, just wondering.

I used to add blood to my oil paint way back in the day but would never consider selling it.

I have absolutely no idea, I don't plan on selling anything atm, so I don't think about it much.

Life's cheap, I'm just making myself that little bit more expensive.

We live as cattle our entire lives. We are born into a crowded, sterile, doomed world, a life fulfilled only by existence, while we wait to be called up to the meat trough.
